A quote from the anime Fairy Tail from Makarov Dreyar. 

This drawing shows a fairy girl, protecting her tail, slightly on guard and a little bit afraid, yet curious for the unknown. After all, no one can know what we don't know. It's not proven that fairies exist, but it is also not proven they don't exist. You can't prove that something doesn't exist. At least, that's what I think. It's the same with religion. You can't prove there is a God, but on the other hand you can't prove there is no God. That mystery and all the other mysteries in life are truly beautiful things.

Without really thinking about the concept of the quote I just drew a fairy with a tail. Now, two years later I redrawed it and tried to develop the concept. Instead of happy jumpy fairy I tried to make the fairy look more concerned about her tail, so I wanted her to interact more with her tail. That's why she's now holding it. I wanted to give the drawing more mystery, since the existence of the fairy is a mystery after all. Also to achieve that mystery feel I made it nighttime instead of daytime. So in the end, I changed kinda a lot in the drawing. 

I have honestly no clue how long I have spent on this drawing, since I didn't draw it at one go. 
I used Painttool Sai and a Bamboo Pen&Touch tablet.
